Photographer

Antonietta Henry

Antonietta Henry: Antonietta Henry is a photographer specializing in maternity, infant, child and family portraiture. Additionally, Mrs. Henry is a photographer and writer for Wainscot Media, writing and photographing articles for a local publication, Pequannock & Pompton Plains Magazine. She attended William Paterson University where she got her masters degree in Education. Mrs. Henry started off as a social studies teacher for 13 years, however she decided to leave the job and pursue her passion of photography. Now, she’s been a photographer for 15 years and owns Antonietta Henry Photography and Wainscot Media. “Sometimes, the career you go to school for isn't the one you end up in! I always thought I would be a teacher for my entire working life. I ended up getting my Masters +30 and working for 13 years as an educator, but when I started having children, I knew that working full time hours wasn't the right fit for our growing family. When we added twins to our family (our third and fourth children), I knew I needed to be home more, yet still find a way to contribute to our household and keep myself motivated creatively. I took my hobby of photography and learned as much as I could through classes and trial and error. I took on many portfolio building sessions with friends and family to get my techniques with photography and editing just right. I worked with a lawyer and accountant to legally form an LLC and started charging the public for my work when I was ready. After four years of working on location, I was ready to get a studio. I have been in my studio location for 11 years now and in business for 15. My advice is to go for a career that means something to you, but never fault yourself if it ends up not being what ultimately works for you. You can always revisit past careers or use those degrees in a different way. I find that now, I am combining my skills from teaching to write for a publication, but also continuing photography with said publication as well as my personal photography business. For all young people, I will say it's wonderful to keep a hobby or passion that you may not pursue right now as a career on the back burner. It may not be your first career choice or perhaps one you're not quite ready to go for, but it could be something to do as a "side gig" or perhaps as a full time career someday when ready to take a leap! Keep your options open!” For more information contact Antonietta Henry at contact@antoniettahenryphotography.com
