Chef

Patricia Deroian

Mrs. Deroian currently works as a personal chef and caterer. Her career started by cooking at restaurants, but as of now, she works for herself cooking weekly for a family while freelancing for local catering companies for events. She claims her career is extremely creative and rewarding. Mrs. Deroian enjoys working with clients to customize menus and events to suit their specific needs. Whether it’s hosting events, or simply planning families with weekly meals, Mrs. Deroian enjoys the ability to help others in her profession. Being a chef allows one to be flexible and enjoy family time. Additionally, Mrs. Deroian received her Bachelors of Science in Mathematics at the University of Albany and an associate's degree in Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of America. Mrs. Deroian notes the importance of recognizing how the culinary arts have evolved over the 25 years she has been a chef; It has an enormous amount of celebrity and notoriety associated with it now through bloggers and television. Nonetheless, there are still several paths that can be explored within this field. When asked to give advice to those interested in pursuing this career, Mrs. Deroian states, “From working in hotels, research and development for a snack food corporation, personal chef, restauranter, catering, influencer...the options are vast and exciting.  The hours can be long and physical especially when you're starting out but the people you meet and the amount of connection you make with others over their passion for food and feeding people is so fulfilling I would encourage anyone to pursue a career in food service.  The opportunities are endless.” For further information contact Mrs. Deroian at Pattyderoian@gmail.com
